New edition, after the original from 1669. A frontispiece and 82 figures Full brown calf antique, back tooled raised and part of title in red morocco. Old pocket curbs and corners, cracked joint restorations and a very slight lack in tail headdress. This treatise on geometry had a significant influence, Le Clerc (1637-1714) wrote it for the benefit of all trades who used the drawing, it is indeed primarily a practical treatise for use. Geometrical figures are presented from architectural designs, characters, rural scenes. In addition to being a famous writer, Le Clerc was engineer geographer, professor of perspective, and was admitted to the Academy as a painter, he also wrote a treatise on architecture.
