Bound in full sheepskin porphyry ^XVIII. Back smooth decorated. As part old red morocco. Friction to the jaws and headdresses. Good copy. Two sections of a catalog describing a similar edition pasted on a cover page.
Curious set of short articles bringing together knowledge and forgotten old ways on a variety of factors: purple, crystal, fruits, markets, precious stones, pyramids, baths, music, games. The first part deals with sixty-three subjects related to ancient and often drawn from ancient authors. The second part is filled with new discoveries, always in the form of short articles: the discovery of America, clocks, sugar, silk ... This type of compilation, bringing together many encyclopaedic knowledge thrown pell-mell reminds many treaties of the Renaissance, including those of Polydore Vergil; this entertainment through knowledge was then particularly enjoyed the book is itself a cabinet of curiosities.
