Original collective edition; illustrated portrait 1 and 5 figures in Volume I, 1 frontispiece and 13 figures in Volume II, 1 frontispiece to Volume IV; portrait by Syfang, the figures drawn by Blakey, Wale and engraved by Walker and Fritzsch. Full brown calf iced contemporary. Smooth back decorated. Part of title and volume number in red morocco. Large missing along the upper joint of Volume I; Lack the joints head of Volume II; scuffs along momrs of Volume III; Lacks the joints of Volume IV; Bits split tail of volume V; scuffs along the Volume VI; most corners bumped. Pope was both the greatest classical poet of England during the first half of the eighteenth universally admired and acclaimed and recognized for his Essay on Man philosopher. His translation of Homer remained a classic in England.
