Vansleb, German philologist and theologian, began serving Colbert for a proposed trip to Ethiopia, but it never went further than Egypt, where he spent 20 months to observe and collect information, multiplying excursions and trips . Vansleb never returns to the descriptions that have already been made by others (the pyramids), aware of its readers deliver entirely new information.
