Rare first edition. Absent the BN of France and the French catalogs. We found nothing in the catalog of the Italian national online library. One copy now in the British Library which also has (as well as the National Library of Scotland and other British libraries) Vita del Catholic & inuittissimo re Don Filippo Secondo (published in 1605, authored by Cesare Campana) which this issue is a continuation and extension, specifically the third and fourth parts. The frontispiece of the 1605 edition has been added to the book. (The copy of the University of Leiden also contains the frontispiece ...). A portrait medallion on the back of the title page of Philip II of Spain. Full contemporary Parchment. Smooth back. boards decorated with lilies in the spandrels and a central monogram (very faded gilding). Traces of laces. Back restored, filling an important gap. Coins restored. Pages redone guard. 244 sheet doubled. Galleries to marginal over the last 3 sheets. The title page has been enhanced in low margin of 8 cm. History of Philip II of Spain, King of Spain and the Two Sicilies and sovereign of the Netherlands, from 1583 until his death in 1598. Contains a universal story of Cesare Campana 1596-1599. A table of remarkable events . Cesare Campana is part of a dynasty literati and Italian writers (1540-1606).
