The author Berquin (1747-1791) specialized early in children's literature, this is even the first to have done so. His children's books have enjoyed great popularity and were often reprinted throughout the nineteenth century. The English and German children of the late eighteenth very familiar with the work of Berquin. Much of the children's friend consists of short plays (historical, moral, childish ...), but there are also many small stories and romances, letters, and a story of shipwreck . There are thus in the general table of contents 106 entries. The friend of adolescence also contains pieces of legal drama, and other more or clearer narrative teaching pieces; we note the relationship of a shipwreck on Isle Royale and the system of the world within the reach of this age.
