First edition, illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by Marillier by Ghendt and a figure of the same engraved by Gaucher.Plein brown calf contemporary. Smooth back adorned with grotesque interlacing floral motifs. Part of title and volume number in red morocco. Triple net framing the golden plats.Tranches. Head cover threadbare; tail cap partly broken. Lack the bottom corner up. Coins émoussés.Florilège poetic revisiting some older works and adding some new ones. Note the important epistle which begins the book and explains the title, in which Dorat attempts to explain the origin of his disgrace in the literary world; following this rationale, Dorat quotes a correspondence with Voltaire.
