; 150pp. (36), 3 volumes reliés.

New edition, illustrated first edition 3 frontispieces, vignettes 3 title, three planes and 12 superb plates, 12 header and 12 cul-de-lamp by Bernard Picart, engraved by Folkema, Picart and a portrait engraved by Tanje . The first three figures of Volume I is inside the house Rabelais. Beautiful ornaments in the Renaissance taste.
English binder full posterior calf late eighteenth or 1800 brown. Back to nerves decorated 4 star irons and rollers. Croisillonnés cold boards adorned with a roulette supervision. Upper jaw and upper jaw cracked in Volume III 3/4 split with missing tail and a box. Volume II in a damaged area and a sitting bare, also in Volume III.
The edition of The Duchat and La Monnaye had originally appeared in 1711; then it was the best edition ever published works of Rabelais; The Duchat has indeed established the text from many editions (Brunet said he did not unfortunately avat the best editions available). The Duchat added a valuable and notes thereto. But what makes the price of this edition is truly remarkable illustration of Picart whose figures are particularly fine and cleverly staged. The third volume contains various parts, letters, reviews, praise ...
Bookplate engraved with the arms of the eighteenth Wadham Wyndham Esquire. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate. Contact us for any information!
