Paul LACROIX XVIIeme siècle, lettres, sciences et arts. France, 1590 - 1700

Paul LACROIX

XVIIeme siècle, lettres, sciences et arts. France, 1590 - 1700

Librairie de Firmin Didot, Paris 1882, In 4 (20x29,5cm), cadeaux.

Mentioned second edition. Illustrated book of 17 color lithographs and 300 woodcuts in the text (including 16 hors-texte). Title page in red and black. Beautiful luxurious realization of Didot, neat in all its aspects (typography, illustration, paper ...). Half shagreen Red publisher corners back richly adorned Souze and connected by Engel. Nets on the boards. Corners rubbed, two small gaps on paper plates (edges). Very pale old wetting in the right margin of some pages, but all very fine halo. Beautiful copy, the decorative aspect. The interest of the work is reflected both by his erudition and his approachability and reading (historical anecdotes ...). This is due to Paul Jacob, who was a great bibliophile, writer and scholar, and curator of the library of the Arsenal. If the entire series has become a classic in the field is that it happily combines work of publisher, printer, bookbinder, history, illustrators, documentation, and few books have finally succeeded this confusion we must Firmin-Didot, at a time when the book became mediocre. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
