Very rare and sought-after first edition of one of the most important autobiographical works in the history of French literature, masterpiece and major work by George Sand. Bindings in fawn half sheepskin, back with four nerves set with golden garlands adorned with golden and black threads, golden friezes at the head and tail of the backs, marbled paper plates, covers and backs preserved for each of the volumes, elegant pastiche bindings. Provenance: from the Pierre Boutellier library with its ex-libris glued on a counterplate of the first volume. Autograph dedication signed by George Sand to his great friend the poet Maurice Rollinat on the false title page of the first volume. Pleasant and extremely rare copy, further enriched with an autograph shipment signed by George Sand, almost free of any freckles and established in a uniform pastiche romantic binding.
