Mathias Sandorf

1885, Grd. in 8 (18x27,5cm), 552pp., relié.

Original edition illustrated. 111 drawings by Benette and a map. Catalog ultimately for the year 1886.
Cardboard editor connected Lenègre; special plate Souze. Cardboard told the silvery banner or ball. The cardboard was used only for the triple volume Sandorf.
Beautiful state of two dishes, a beautiful freshness, but a scratch on the lower plate. Beautiful state back. Pale roussseurs scattered. Very nice copy, the first ice-cold plate.
Sandorf is dedicated posthumously to Alexandre Dumas. Jules Verne tribute indeed in this novel the author of the Count of Monte Cristo ("In this book, I tried to make Matthias Sandorf the Monte Cristo Extraordinary Voyages."); Sandorf was imprisoned and betrayed as he and his adventures retrace his revenge. The novel is set on the edge of méditerranéenn southern Europe.
