The First edition date of 1722. The first illustrated edition was published in 1742, itself containing five fig. unsigned. All editions of this novel seem uncommon. The title page does not contain the name of the author. Fashion exotic stories added a first title that is not found in other editions, which could be confused with this work of Claude-François Lambert: The Sicilian unfortunate, or memories and adventures of the Countess Carini (1743 ). Absent Cohen (books fig. Eighteenth). Full Calf blond contemporary. Smooth back decorated. Part of title in red morocco, and volume number in brown calf. Nice copy. The novel begins with a brief history of Sicily which places his destiny under the sign of the tragedy. Sicily is dominated by Spain when this story begins with many adventures, and whose model is yet to get Heliodorus and the Greek novels. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate.
