Born in Spain, Eduardo Garcia Benito first became known as a commercial artist including working with printers like Alfred Tolmer in 1913 or in 1916 Draeger.
Another illustrator, Georges Lepape, working at the same time for Draeger, while drawing parallel fashion plates for the
Gazette du Bon tone; it is for this same magazine that Benito working hand after producing vignettes where slender female bodies embody the creations of Jeanne Lanvin, Beer or Larsen.

The figures, from Cubist inspiration, irresistibly evoke the paintings of Modigliani, in which members drawn alongside similar faces in masks. The impersonality of the body is taken successfully by Benito which starts at the same time to draw for other magazines and in particular for the French edition of Vogue, which he illustrated many covers.
Thereafter, he continued his drawing activity with writers he illustrates the text. This is the case of Jean Cocteau met within the company Draeger, and to which he illustrates
in the sky of the motherland in 1918.
